About Us

Our Mission

Cross the Divide is helping veterans and their families navigate the challenging terrain of life, promoting healing, hope, strength and growth by application of Christ-centered, biblical truths in the venue of God’s creation.

Our History

Cross the Divide is the reincorporated entity originally founded as “Divide Camp,” a rustic camp that provided restoration and hope to combat veterans by creating a community of care and support in an outdoor setting. Through the godly vision of Julie Wheeler, that camp started in 2009 on her property in the Wallowa Mountains of eastern Oregon as an outreach to post-9/11 combat-wounded veterans.

Cross the Divide relaunched in January 2022 as a faith-based corporation and has expanded the scope of its outreach to all veterans and their families while continuing support for combat-wounded veterans. It will continue to host events in eastern Oregon while expanding events to other locations around the United States.

Originally designed for America’s latest generation of veterans, this approach has focused on healing through the outdoors, community, and camaraderie. With hundreds of veterans served and healing processes started, Cross the Divide doesn’t just provide a mountaintop experience that sends veterans back into their daily lives. We seek to affect a transformation of mindset through a focus on biblical values and involving a support system of family and friends.
